SEO-Led Organic Growth for a Pet-Care E-Commerce Retailer
I owned the organic search workstream within a wider growth engagement. Before-and-after results from Google Search Console, GA4 and e-shop revenue data.
The starting point
The challenge
A long-established pet retail brand was moving from a specialist shop to a modern, e-commerce-driven business. Organic search was a secondary channel: the business relied heavily on paid advertising, with SEO, social media and email treated as extras.
This case study covers the organic search workstream only. It launched as part of the wider growth strategy of the client.
The outcome
Results in numbers
A nine-month baseline before SEO launch, compared with the first four months after.
About 78 a month → about 153 a month on average. Peaked at 203 in one month.
About 2,308 a month → about 2,636 a month.
Across the whole site.
Keywords ranking in the top ten.
The business impact
Revenue impact
- Organic revenue grew from a range of €1,800 to €4,700 a month before SEO to about €10,000 a month in the months after SEO activation.
- Organic search became the second-largest revenue source, at 18% of total e-shop revenue.
- Several product and category pages improved in steps. One category page went from 5 to 141 clicks while its position improved from 18.6 to 10.8. Another moved from position 10.9 to 6.48 with impressions up by 3,645.
The approach
What was done
- Technical and on-page SEO across the core commercial category and product pages.
- Content strategy targeting high-intent commercial keywords across pet food, care and accessory categories.
- Local SEO targeting, including local-modifier search terms.
- Ongoing optimization based on click-through rate, conversion rate and ranking movement for each page.
The fine print
Scope and method
This engagement was run by a multi-specialist team. The case study covers the organic search workstream only, which I owned end to end. Paid media, social media and email results in the same client reporting were delivered by other specialists and are not included here.
Method: a nine-month baseline before the SEO launch compared with the first four months after it, using Google Search Console, GA4 and e-shop revenue data from a client-facing performance presentation. The client is not named.
